Orchestrating Containers
While Docker runs single containers on one machine, Kubernetes (K8s) manages clusters of containers across multiple hosts, automating scaling, failover, and service discovery.
Core Primitives
- Pod: The smallest deployable unit in Kubernetes, containing one or more tightly coupled containers.
- Deployment: Defines the desired state of pods, managing updates, rollback paths, and scaling.
- Service: Provides a stable network IP and DNS name to route traffic to a dynamic group of pods.
- Ingress: Manages external HTTP routing into the cluster services.
