Rates are provided for informational purposes and may differ from rates offered by banks, card providers, or currency-exchange services.

How is the conversion calculated?

We calculate conversions using a centrally cached dataset of reference exchange rates. When you convert a currency, the calculation happens instantly in your browser based on these cached rates, ensuring a lightning-fast experience without needing to contact external rate providers for every single input.

Why might my bank charge a different rate?

The rates displayed are indicative mid-market reference rates. These are the rates banks use to trade with one another. When you make a purchase or withdraw money abroad using a credit or debit card, your bank or payment processor usually applies a "markup" (often between 1% and 3%) on top of this reference rate, and may also charge flat transaction fees.

Why do exchange rates move?

Currencies are traded globally 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. Exchange rates fluctuate constantly based on supply and demand, which are influenced by factors like inflation, interest rates, political stability, and economic performance. Our tool prominently displays the exact timestamp of our reference data so you know how fresh the rates are.
